10th September 2010
Our sail from Faraway Bay to Darwin was quite uneventful, our log shows that we saw one fishing trawler at 0130 off the starboard bow.

We sailed for about six hours and motor sailed the rest with glassy seas, we recorded a maximum wind speed of 10kts from NW. We arrived at 1015, averaged 5kts and covered 239nm in 48hrs.
They sent out the pride of their fleet and the Airforce to greet us into Darwin.

We anchored in Fanny Bay while waiting for a high tide and arranging a suitable berth in one of the marinas.

Keith at Tiparary Marina was very obliging and found us a very nice Pen. He talked us in on the VHF, watching from a good vantage point at the entrance to the lock. The current was strong and Keith really made it a lot less hassle than it might have been, if he were not so proactive.
During the next four weeks we were to learn that Keith and Lea are a wealth of knowledge on sailing Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand. Having spent many years up that way on their yacht “Tientos”.
