Mindarie to Port Denison on "Catcha Star"

Monday April 26:
The voyage from Mindarie to Port Denison was relatively pleasant, as far as any first long leg goes anyway.
Minutes after we cast off we noted that the bilge pump was rather over active, some time later Cathy found the problem. Catcha Star's drip-less stern gland was not only not drip-less, it was gushing. After contemplating turning back I studied the problem and found that it was an easy fix. The retaining ring grub screws had vibrated loose and the ring was not pressed against the carbon face, simply pushing it back onto the carbon seal and tightening the grub screw was all that was needed.
We copped a 30knot bullet that lasted about 40 minutes at around 0300, a bit unnecessary but ya get that.
While becalmed 10nm off Jurian Bay we noted a bad vibration from the prop shaft, the words "listen to your Mother" rang loudly in my head. Only two days before while taking Mum & Dad out on Catcha Star, Mum had asked "what"s that noise"? Refusing tobelieve we had any problems I suggested that it was nothing. After some time I had the bright idea to put the drive into reverse, hoping we had picked up a rope or clump of sea weed. We had, it shook off and we jumped for joy once more.
Soon after I decided to check the weather on the internet, Catcha Star's laptop had gone nuts, the courser was running a muck all over the place. Many hours later I recalled the same problem when Mike Jackson was installing the AIS. We shut down the Garmin Chart Plotter and all was fixed, yet another easy fix. The God's are looking after us.
We arrived at Port Denison 1700, logged off with VMR667 and berthed alongside the commercial jetty. We had a glass of red as the sun set and crashed into a lovely soft bed.
Cathy's biggest hate was a very squeaky boom, although I had lubricated the pin it was very noisy. We are about to disconnect the boom goose neck and fix this for good, we hope.
Today we plan on having a good look around Dongara and then decide when we head off to the Abrolhos Islands.
