Sunday 20th April:
The farewell party on Saturday 19th April was huge, we are blessed to have so many beautiful friends.
Monday morning at 0900 Mark’s Mum and Dad flew into Perth and stayed in a Mindarie Marina holiday villa and were able to sit on their balcony and observe “Catcha Star” in the Marina below.
Many friends came up to Mindarie to have a meal and say bon-voyage while we were in Mindarie. Most days were spent doing some last minute shopping. Thankfully Vince and Denise had brought our car up from Fremantle, so we had wheels. We must also thank Garry and Lisa for picking up our car and taking care of it at their home.
While enjoying a meal on the Wednesday evening with friends Punny and Victoria, we had a little set back. The hotel apartment where Mum and Dad were staying was broken into. Mum and Dad lost a lot of money, camera and personal stuff, we lost our big Dell Laptop and a ton of navigation software. However we still have our chart plotter, thank God! We have stressed to the police and hotel management that it is impossible to lock the unit/ villa up properly and that the hotel must take responsibility for replacing our lost goods. Naturally the Mindarie Marina hotel are not forthcoming in admitting liability.
Taking Mum and Dad to the airport was TUFF, we managed to break the mood by doing some more shopping for food, O-Rings and Grog on the way back to Mindarie. While enjoying a meal on the Wednesday evening with friends Punny and Victoria, we had a little set back. Chris and Jesse along with our friend Colin Lockley were on the jetty at Mindarie to cast us off at 1130 Saturday 24th April. It was a very sad but exciting moment for us both.
