Serrurier/ Long Island

 3rd June 2010:

Cathy’s Mum’s birthday and we think we have found our paradise. We are securely anchored on the west side of Long Island, otherwise known as Serrurier Island

We joined Elevation for dinner last night and had fried white bait followed by fresh cray fish given to us by George, Linda and Garry.

It would have to be the biggest cray any of us had ever seen, known as a painted or ornamental cray, it was a good 70cm long. A very comfortable and safe anchorage, we decided to stay for a few days while a low pressure system passed through.

On Saturday morning Mark and Paul went hunting, the result was an even bigger ornamental cray and a very tasty green cray. Later on Saturday Storm Trouper pulled into the bay, we were invited to join Storm Trouper with Elevation on The Wizzard of Ozz. Both these catamarans were from Princess Royal Sailing Club in Albany, George is an abalone diver and as it turned out I had met Jim and Di off Storm Trouper when I did their HIN about a year before. George was a wealth of knowledge on fishing and sailing the area. Both cats set sail for Exmouth on Sunday morning 6th June, they were picking up some Auto Pilot parts for Wizzard of Ozz and then hope to join us in the Montebelloes.
