Sunday 16th May:
"Phew", that was a long leg. We set sail from Turtle Bay in the Abrolhos at 0730 Sat 15th. It is now 1330 on Sunday and we are now about half an hour from weighing anchor in Denham, Shark Bay .
All in all a good voyage, however Catcha Star was so fast we had to motor in reverse for five hours to slow Her down......No Joke!!! We were not prepared to round Steep Point in the dark and the swell was well over 3.5M, so dropping all the sails was not an option. With three reefs in the main and our small Staysail we were still doing between ten and twelve knots, so we ran the engine at 1500 RPM in reverse and that kept us down to between six and eight knots. We entered the heads at Steep Point at 0705 as the sun came up, what great timing, hey.
Off to bed as soon as we have checked out the Denham Hotel Fish and Chips, noodles are not an option again for a few days.
