Sampson Inlet – Hanover bay:

14th 17th  August 2010
We arrived in Sampson Inlet at around 1600 having seen many Humpback whales and floating trees along the way. Once in Sampson Inlet we took a dinghy ride further up the waterway. This was a little creepy, as we were the only one’s in the area and Sampson Inlet is a known area for aggressive Croc’s. We kept our eye’s pealed and kept all our limbs within the protection of our trusty inflateable. Although I am sure they were watching us, we didn’t see any crocs, not a one.

More Humpback Whales taunted us during our passage to Hanover Bay on Monday 16th.

We had heard “Whitehaven” were having engine problems again and may be returning to Broome. As we had not heard from “Whitehaven” for a few days, we called Coast Watch as they flew over. They had not seen or heard from them either. We later learn’t that they had turned back and were safe.

We arrived at Hanover Bay to find “Dreamtime” a large private power boat. There was plenty of room for us, we went further up the Bay and anchored out of the breeze.
The next day “Elevation” pulled into Hanover Bay. They did a quick circle and took off again. Aparently Paul did not like the feel of the anchorage, they kept going on to Bat Island and Ivy Cove.

We enjoyed another day playing on the white sandy beach and investigating the waterways, before making for the Hunter River.

A quick call to see how the Folk's are
